TrainedBooks

Terms of Use

Plain language, because this matters. These are the terms you agree to when you use TrainedBooks.

1. What TrainedBooks is

TrainedBooks is self-serve software that helps you keep your books. It categorizes the transactions you upload or connect, runs a monthly close, and flags the items that need your attention — and it learns from your corrections so it gets more accurate for your business over time. By creating an account you agree to these Terms.

2. What TrainedBooks is not

TrainedBooks is not a CPA, accountant, bookkeeper-of-record, tax preparer, auditor, or financial or legal advisor. It does not file your taxes, give tax/legal/financial advice, or guarantee that your books are correct, complete, or compliant. You — and, if you have one, your accountant — remain responsible for your books and any filings.

3. Your account & responsibilities

Keep your login secure; you're responsible for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and only upload financial data you have the right to use. Your books are yours — keep your own copies of anything important. One account per business unless we agree otherwise; you must be 18+.

4. Plans, billing, cancellation & refunds

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) through our payment processor, Stripe, at the price shown at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel; cancel anytime from your account and you keep access through the end of the period you've paid for. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee: any charge made in the last 30 days is refunded in full, self-serve from your billing settings or by emailing us, issued to your original payment method via Stripe.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use TrainedBooks for anything unlawful, to upload data you don't have the right to use, or to attack, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do.

6. AI — review before you rely

Categorizations, summaries, and close suggestions are generated by AI and can be wrong. They are suggestions for you to review, not final accounting determinations. The system improves from your corrections, but you are responsible for reviewing and approving your books before relying on them, filing, or sharing them with anyone.

7. Your data & connections

To work, TrainedBooks processes the financial data you give it — uploaded statements/exports and, if you connect them, transactions from your bank or accounting tools through our data providers. We handle this data to provide the service, as described in our Privacy policy. We don't sell it.

8. “As is”; no warranties; limitation of liability

TrainedBooks is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and that results are accurate or complete. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrainedBooks and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any lost filing, deadline, penalty, or opportunity; and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100, whichever is greater.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify TrainedBooks and its operators against claims arising from your use of the service or the data you upload, including any claim that your data infringes a right or violates a law.

10. Changes & termination

We may update these Terms as the product evolves; material changes will be reflected by a new effective date, and continued use after a change means you accept it. We may suspend or end the service or your access, and you may stop and delete your account, at any time.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California.

12. Contact
